Kevin Braithwaite

Kevin has founded and built a number of companies, encompassing both service and product based ventures in the software and Internet sectors. He has also acted as advisor to universities and investors, being based for some time at the University of Cambridge. Kevin’s main interest is in social entrepreneurship and he is currently developing several social enterprises in San Francisco.

John Naughton

John is an academic and a journalist. He is Professor of the Public Understanding of Technology at the Open University, a Fellow of Wolfson College, Cambridge (where he is Director of the College’s Press Fellowship Programme), the Observer Newspaper’s Internet columnist and a director of Ndiyo, a technology-based not-for-profit company. John has also chaired or served on the boards of several charities.

Carol Priestley

Carol has over 30 years experience working in development. She spent many years from the mid 1970s to the 90s working in both Africa and Asia. Her particular interest is that all people are able to access and contribute information, ideas and knowledge necessary to drive sustainable and equitable development. Carol was founding Director of the International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications (INASP) 1992-2006, and is now Director of the Network for Information & Digital Access (NIDA). She was recently awarded the MBE for her services to science in developing and transitional countries.

Chris Smart

Chris is an entrepreneur and a founding partner of Acacia Capital Partners, a venture capital firm in London. He has a personal interest in international development and has held senior executive positions in the electronics industry, primarily in a product and software development environment. He brings a wealth of strategic advice and contacts to the organisation. He is also an Honorary member of Magdalene College, Cambridge.
